Lewisham Community Warden Service provides a highly visible presence and have contributed to a significant reduction in the fear of crime. They have been very effective in helping to target the resources of the Police, through their ability to gather intelligence and also in helping the Local Authority target their own resources, particularly in the areas of anti-social behaviour, abandoned cars and fly tipping. The Wardens have also demonstrated their Social Cohesion role within the community which goes much further than meeting Crime and Community Safety outcomes and this has been recognised and is strongly supported.
